Watching a new show during hiatus while you wait for the next season of your favorite shows is not a good idea. You might get hooked, and then you'll just have some more waiting to do. I already like 30 Rock and House. Did I really have to add In Treatment to the list? The thing is... the writing is superb. Not everything is laid out before the viewers' eyes. There is room for interpretation and several parallels can be drawn that are not mentioned. It's like a game. Plus, it has Gabriel Byrne. Of course I've been watching his movies ever since 1994 and I've always had a crush on Father Andrew, just like any other girl. But it's never been like this. His character, Paul Weston, is "perfect". I mean, even the man's flaws are endearing. Anyway, fanglirling aside, it's a very good show. Intelligent, moving, addicting and thought-provoking.

And so I made a few icons. Only one or two are worth posting (one, actually). My icons aren't tops, but they're a bit better than these, usually. I couldn't find decent screencaps. And that's why I'm also posting some The Remains of the Day icons here. I really should get my DVD-Rom fixed. Then I could make my own screencaps and never again have an excuse for lousy icons. :)

All this talk about books made me realize I didn't have a proper icon. I made a few very silly ones using stock images. They're definitely for the grab. I only warn that I didn't do everything I should have done (meaning I didn't mess with "levels" and "color balance"). So let's say they're not official. =P

"The Addams Family" was my very first obsession fandom, back when I was only 12. I absolutely adored the characters played by Anjelica Huston and Raul Julia. And later, at 14, I found out about Carolyn Jones and John Astin. Don't ask me to choose. Anyway, with the whole TV show out on DVD and all, I've just finished watching the first season all over again. Some icons were the result, although they're not the work of a pro, as usual. ;)

They stopped airing "Cane" and "30 Rock" a couple of weeks ago and my life ended. So I bought myself the one and only original trilogy of "Star Wars" for Christmas. I really don't know how I managed to live without it before. Really. Problem is that now I'm reaching weird levels of fandom. I was playing sabacc the other day (which is a card game that only exists in "Star Wars"). I actually know the names of the places they go to, like Hoth or Bespin. I go inside toy stores to look for action figures. I've been reading EU (expanded universe, it's like official fanfiction) books and comics. I mean, what's next? Buying a Princess Leia costume? Learning the Aurebesh writing system?

Anyway, I made some icons. Pretty normal fangirl stuff. Not weird and not freaky. I hope.

When they put Sara Sidle between life and death under that car while her stupid boyfriend spent the night at his former sex-partner's house, I decided to stop watching TV shows. Before I was a GSR shipper, I used to enjoy CSI and mostly for the cases. After that, it all came down to bracing myself and hoping they wouldn't mess up even more than they already had. I carried on with my plan and everything was fine. Until now. I happened to see the pilot episode of "30 Rock" last week and, well, you know, I loved it. It's really funny and Tina Fey is perfect. And Alec Baldwin? To put it in one of the other characters' words, "yummers".

After watching "Severance" last night, I was forced to face the fact that I have a crush on Toby Stephens. I mean, why else would I see such a horrible movie? "Saw" meets "The Blair Witch Project". Not good. In cases like this, the best thing to do is to follow Iago's advice and let the lethargy "have his quiet course". So, I added that to the fact that I'm learning how to use The Gimp, and to the fact that the BBC 2006 version of "Jane Eyre" has beautiful shots.

alohamora_icons posted a wonderful Gimp tutorial @ gimp_tutorial . I'm not really much of an icon maker, but I gave it a try. The Gimp is just wonderful, as is the above tut.
